Flipped over and throttle went wide open when it was upside down and impeller was out of the water. The gear on the end of the driveshaft somehow came unthreaded and fell to hull. While it did that it broke a piece of the one on crankshaft. Do you have to pull motor completely apart to replace that aluminum gear?

It's an OLD mechanics trick. You bring the piston up1/2 way or more, then shove in a couple feet of 1/4" rope through the spark plug hole. Then as the piston comes up it smashes the rope in there and 'locks' the motor up so you can unscrew the coupler. About 45 seconds of propane heat on the center of the coupler is sometimes (not always) necessary........MAKE SURE there is no gas or fumes present!!!http://www.facebook.com/twinlakesjetskirepair
