Wanted to take a minute and post up. I am a Waverunner owner/operator living on James Island. I am a casual rider for hobby and pleasure. Enjoy chatting with others. As of late I have been running the Edisto river. One of my favorite rides is Morris Island. I like the technical aspect of the skis as much as the riding. Hope to hear from others in the area!

Re: Waverunner riding in Charleston SC
I actually thought about riding a bit tonight. Really did not like the looks of the water, I like it smooth. I'm sure I'll go for a ride this weekend. Probably head on down the Morris Island lighthouse
Here is a video of a fun little ride into the backwoods a couple of weekends ago

Re: Waverunner riding in Charleston SC
I stick to the lake mainly since I'm riding an all original 1992 550sx. Just had a kid so I'm not out on the water much lately. My 1991 440 (one I let friends ride) toasted a bearing and I'll have to pull the motor and repair... But I'll be out on the water a bunch next month. We should get some people together and go ride the surf or the lake!

Re: Waverunner riding in Charleston SC
I am headed to the ocean this weekend. I will put in at the Folly river public ramp and go northwards up Folly river until I reach the inlet. I will then put my 20’ bungee on my ankle. I ride the waves and use the bungee to get back to my ski if I fall off. I have kids so I completely understand that responsibility. My ski is a 2002. Are you in Eutaville? I have a friend there.

Re: Waverunner riding in Charleston SC
I live on James Island. The bungee stays on the ski. I use it as a safety precaution if I am riding the ocean by myself. I ride in the inlet next to Morris Island lighthouse and the water is very fast in that area. I have a couple of rides in mind, will post a map tonight. One is to the lighthouse and back the other is a Cooper river route. I also have an engine hoist that will help with that engine pullLast edited by Lee Taylor; 05-22-2014, 02:43 PM.

Will run the Cooper this weekend. Will be taking GPS photos and scouting for places to shark tooth hunt

Re: Waverunner riding in Charleston SC
Gonna get the FX140 out this weekend and burn some fuel. I do this every (4) weeks during the colder months. Not planning to put it in the water. Just planning a driveway run for winter maintenance purposes. I am not fogging. I do not use antifreeze. I have a pint of Seafoam in the fuel and a bit of Seafoam in the oil. Planning to push some lubricant into my shielded cables. Will lubricate the “reverse” cable first. It has dried out and it sticks after the ski has been sitting for a while. I keep my battery on a battery tender and will likely get another season of use from it. Any rusty areas on the trailer will get a spray of 50/50 mix kerosene/motor oil. Will put some protectant on the seat to help slow the drying process.Last edited by Lee Taylor; 11-20-2014, 11:33 AM.
