I use a cherry-picker I got from Harbor Freight. It's the foldup 2-ton type. Works great and you can fold up the legs when you're done. Rolls easily on concrete or asphalt.

With a couple of motorcycle tie-down straps it works perfect on older skis.

If you've got a big ski, check ebay for the lifting straps.

    Hope that helps.

Can use a cart. Have seen a relatively cheap but doable one for a garage made from PVC bolted to a wood base with caster wheels. Another way is to make one from auto exhaust tubing, you could get a custom exhaust place to do the 4 bends and 4 welds. You may be able to see it well enough in the attached photos to get the idea.

I know the couches you are wanting to move are a bit heavier than what I have, but what I do is hook my trailer up to my truck, then slide my TS back onto a cart.
Take a look at Davit lifts - they may give you an idea or two. Some sort of strap lift, then use a hoist or chain fall to lift.
I'd say get a cart with wheels and then you can always have one on the cart. Prof

Just get the cart and push them off the trailer on to the cart. I do it with my RX and XP which both weigh over 500 lbs. Its not that hard.

I use two of these attached to the rafters in the garage:

..with half-inch rope through bow and stern eyes.
Note the cable pullers are "not for lifting" - just take the weight off so you can slide the trailer out and your stand under.
