61X case porting... whats the basics?

I've searched for some case porting threads but didnt really find any. I've got the sport port templates so I'll be doing my cylinders. Thought I'd try to do some with the cases if I can figure out the key points. Where to remove and why? whats the point of filling in the cases with epoxy? or is that just for 62t cases? any info or pics of port jobs would be appreciated.

and i love theory and technical crap, so spare no explanations.

    thanks in advance.

You can't port the 62T cases very much unless you fill in the voids on the intake side with epoxy, because you'll cut into the voids and that won't work for obvious reasons.

A lot of people also fill in the "fingers" in the 62T cases but the 61X cases don't have fingers.

I'm not sure what I'd do to a set of 61X cases... I haven't looked at a set in a while.

Okay I just looked at a set of 61X cases... pretty sad. I would shave some material off the top of the intake ports near the crank side, on the left and right sides only (not the middle). If you take material out of the middle on top you will make that boost (sp?) port shorter (shorter like the 62T's have it). As Jr.Magoo said on the Sport Port thread, a longer boost port is better for low end.

This'll help the intake charge flow up into the transfer ports.

Wildman's are 62T cases, they look a lot different than 61X cases. But I guess porting would be similar. I think they call that "tunnel porting".

I would try to take more off the top and less of the sides, but that's just my hunch. You'll see when you look at your cases. The 61X reeds feed more into the side side of the crank whereas the 62T reeds feed more into the top side of the crank.

Well, if Keith Head is the man, ask Uncle.
If I sound like a moron, it's only because I haven't typed enough words yet.
