I meant, purpose. I know nothing about the hull. Is it an all around ski, or a more purposed "one trick pony". What are you expecting it to do? (and, let us know, when done, if it did what you were thinking).

    LOL, got it.
    I don't always assume.
    Or maybe I do

You should watch the YouTube vids I posted at the beginning of this thread.
I basically expect this to be a more playful Super Jet. Hull is a minus 2, with some front rocker, but 2 inches wider, with a much roomier tray compared to a SJ. I haven't weighed it, but if feels lighter that any SJ I have built.

I've ridden several Rickter Edges, and I like them, but not enough to spend Rickter money. The more I look at this Apex, the more I expect to like it more than the Edge...and if I don't love it, it will be available for 5 digits as an RTR.

I've also ridden a Vision, which I liked, but it was cobbled together and not even close to tuned well, so it was hard to judge...but I'm expecting this Apex to be similar...but with a much better tray design.

I chase boat wakes at home (even the cops plow for me), and I ride surf on lake Michigan. I'm not a flat water backflipper... For any aftermarket hull to stay in my hoard, it will need to be versatile.

I will certainly update this thread with a ride report.

I was told only 5 of these were made. Looks like mine was the first. So far, the build quality has been fairly impressive. Hoping to get a pump put together for it and installed this week.

Re: Rock You Like A Hurricane..........Apex

This was an absolute PITA, but I'm very pleased with the result.

I could have just used a single WR3 long hose, but the front end needed to bend about 20 degrees to get on the waterbox outlet. It would have definitely kinked a bit to accommodate that, which would have driven me nutz forever...so not acceptable.

The other fun deal was the thru tube at the bulkhead has just 3/4" inch of tubing sticking out to clamp on to. This hose HAD to be cut just right.

I used both a WR3 long and short hose.

Long hose got 1.5 inches cut off the back end, to move the upward bend back just a bit...so I know it will clear the bedplate and carbs...and I still have easy access to the bilge fitting.

WR3 short hose was only used for the enlarged end and soft curve right after that end. I sacrificed a 650 yami breadbox, cut the outlet off of it, and slid that inside the WR3 short hose...then slid the long hose over the short hose (and that aluminum internal "sleeve"), then a single clamp over all of that holds it all beautifully...this sh1t went together very tight...it's not coming apart.

End result is everything lined up beautifully, no kinks whatsoever, no crazy twists, and the hose is up as high as can be....and the OEM gas tank will tuck in nicely.

This is the tedious crap that eats up stupid amounts of time.

If fukkin snowed here again 2 days ago.
This is also my 4th build this winter. My pace is therefore adjusted accordingly, and I got a curve ball of some wheeled vehicle issues that got me sidetracked.

I made my custom battery tray relocation bracket yesterday after work after dinner with a colleague from out of town after walking my dog 3 miles, so there's that. OEM fuel tank fitment will require a custom "shim" to tilt the tank to the right a bit, and it needs to slide back just enough to where using an OEM battery tray meant it needed to move backwards about an inch. Bracket was made from 3/4" stainless tubing, 2 pieces, cut to length, flattened in a vise, holes drilled and mounted via longer bolts and stainless bushings (now functioning as risers), then holes to mount the OEM tray to the flattened stainless tubing were drilled and M6 tapped to accept the bolts that secure the tray to the bracket I made. Simple. Plan is to use a small lithium battery I got recently. With the battery tray raised up about 1/2" now, I can easily used long releaseable zip ties to secure the lightweight battery in the tray.

This is the padding that was in the hull when I bought it.
Now that I'm test fitting the tank, I can see why it needed to be lifted higher on the left...so it could be tucked under the long exhaust hose and pushed as far as possible to the right. I plan to do roughly the same thing, but the padding I'm doing won't look so cobbled, and the tank will be more evenly supported - and the tank won't be resting on the steering cable when I'm done.

This shows tank fitment with my custom "brackets" that relocate the battery tray back 1 inch. Not 100% sure that this is how it will remain for final assembly...some of it depends on pipe fitment...but moving the battery tray back an inch does make better space for the tank to clear the exhaust hose - which allows the tank to go as far to the right as possible. I'm also considering raising the right side of the waterbox maybe an inch or so, if needed.
