Oh, and the hull has some chips in the gel coat I'm planning to touch up, but it's still freakin 20 degrees in WI, so that crap can wait until I don't need to keep heating my garage.

Goal is to have this Apex at least done and reasonably fun to ride in time for Jet Blast 2022, but I probably won't have it "perfected" by then.

    Time for some progress.
Got the OVP steering pulled apart, cleaned and greased.
Chinpad was damaged, so I did a simple repair.
Center bolt holding the top of the chinpad was galvanized garbage, and this Apex came from CA, so of course it was seized and had to be snapped and then drilled out.
Steering cable needed lube very much.

Whatever parts that secures the steering cable to this cable holder was missing, so I made my own.
I also ripped out the vent tubes in the pole bracket. They were a total sh1tshow. Didn't even fit up into the pole, so they were basically pointless. I have some slightly small diameter stuff I plan to use, that should actually slide up into the handlepole.

Re: Rock You Like A Hurricane..........Apex

The vent hoses that were in this Apex previously were literally just shoved up through the bracket and maybe an inch above the pole bolt. The tops of both hoses were wide open/exposed. Also they were metal wire reinforced and too large to fit up into this blowsion pole anyhow. The pictures here show the hoses I installed, which are about 1/4 inch smaller in diameter and nylon reinforced. These hoses were in my stash, so they must have come from a part out ski...can't recall what/which one, lol. I simply used the bench grinder to cut down the reinforcement "ridge" on the top inch of both tubes, which then made it easy/possible to actually slide the tubes up and into the handlepole where they belong. Then the very slight gap between the hoses and the pole bracket has been filled with silicone = a short piece or tubing added to the caulk gun tube made it easy to get the silicone where it was needed. I also have zip ties in place to keep the tubes from dropping...silicone hides them.

All the steering, handlepole, vent tubes and steering/throttle cable preliminary stuff is pretty much done. Now i just need to grab stuff from my stash to set up a start/stop switch for this Apex - my plan is to run the start/stop wires down the left side of the handlepole and will most likely keep them along the left/exhaust side of the hull. If I don't get too sidetracked this week, my hope is to get that done along with also getting the waterbox in place and strapped down, and I may also get the pump in and aligned. Fingers crossed

Progress. Waterbox is in...was saving that from a Rickter I converted from a b-pipe to a lay down pipe last summer. Couch mounts are in. Testing fitment of the long exhaust hose...this is a WR3 hose shown here...assuming I will need to route the hose up high to clear the carbs and intake. I've also got some extra VXR hoses I might test fit and possibly couple 2 together. Steering cable is tight, but should work...may just need to mount the battery tray on riser bushings so it's not pressing on the steering cable. Throttle cable is from a B2. Length matches the SJ, but is probably half a foot longer than needed, but creative routing can fix that.

Gas tank is cleaned out and set up. I'm not a fan of the tank clunkers, so I sacrificed an OEM pickup set up to make the pickup tubes.
