    I'd be curious to know what the check valves are meant to pop open at...what psi. I'd assume it is meant to be low, or they'd be prone to causing engine failures. I've tossed 100s of them in the trash and never gave any a second look. I'd assume one or both on this 90 wr3 were stuck open.

    I'm guessing around 3psi. I know a very strong human lung can blow about 2psi. You can't blow them open. BUT, a can of carb cleaner WILL blow through them. When you clean one and blow a bit of air through to dry, you can 'feel' a poppet......like it's spring loaded inside. I've also learned through the years that the oil injection pumps are VERY strong. I have a piece of 1/8" tubing around here somewhere that has about a nickel sized balloon in it! The oil fitting plugged and the oil pump just kept on pumping. Luckily I was watching everything before a lake test.
