The registering process for me, about last august. Was maddening. I registered multiple times and it wouldnt let me post or see pics until my profile was approved by an admin. Which wouldnt happen and my profile would expire.

Yeah, I heard that from several people, so I brought it to Steph's attention a month or two ago. Should be fixed now.

The spammers/bots are apparently the issue.
I guess every join request winds up getting reviewed manually.

Completely agree with everything in this thread. It scares me a little because as soon as the forum owners decide these sites are not worth the maintenance costs, all the info that isnít archived somewhere will be inaccessible.

    Re: Forums versus Facebook

Spring is clearly in the air.
    March summary from FB:
"Me buy used jet ski. It run good first few times now not run. What could it be? Me just want it go vroom vroom again."

I mean, I'm all for trying to help and sharing knowledge.....but if I went into some FB group for medical advice, and started asking (beyond vaguely) about performing brain surgery or treating cancer...yeah, I would hope that they'd laugh at me and direct me to a hospital first, LOL......or perhaps try to explain to me how to dial 9-1-1, since it's not on my speed dial list...

The ladder of helplessness has no bottom rung.

FB OP: My jet ski no start. What it be?

Random stranger #1: Mine did that. It was the widget. Just install a new widget.

Random stranger #2: Mine did that. It was the replicator. Just install a new replicator.

Random stranger #3: Mine did that. It was the hypershaft. Just install a new hypershaft.

Random stranger #4: Mine did that. It was the transpart. Just install a new transpart.

Random stranger #5: Mind did that. It was the plumbus. Just install a new plumbus.

FB OP: Geeze, thanks guys. It's nice to see that random strangers are just so gosh darn "helpful", and actual troubleshooting hurts my feelings anyhow, so now I will just go order a new widget, replicator, hypershaft, transpart, and plumbus, so I can just swap out all those parts and then "fix" my jet ski all by myself. "Learning" is fun

I am surprised that no one mentioned the expansion chamber bearings. But then most people are not aware they can be replaced.
2, 1998 TS 770 L, restored and running great as of July 2019 (NO THANKS to the person at SBT, who put the WRONG crankshaft bearing into the rebuilt engine I got from them)

If the winky blinky is acting all fonky wonkey, then replace the thingy wingy and it will go zingy zingy.

Even better. Way better. You can literally pretend post that you're a moron with a Yamaha svhpLGbtQ Cruiser, who can't figure out which side of a gas pump to pull up to, so you need help adding fuel fillers on all sides of your ski.....and the simpletons will bite on that.
Crazy me...I thought the term "alphabet couch" would be amazingly obvious, but nope. And don't even try to grasp how fake naming a ski model with the letters LGBTQ doesn't absolutely give away the fact that you're just screwing around, LOLOLOL....
But this FB group, yamaha waverunners owners, has so many below kindergarten level questions, and answers, day after day after day...guess I shouldn't be surprised. Great group for pure entertainment value, but nothing more.
