are all sbn 44s the same - are the aftermarket sbn 44s any good

Thinking about upgrading a 550 to the SBN 44. I see there are both after market and new 44s available (used ones are almost as much). Are the after market ones any good? Can they by rebuilt with a standard Mikuni carb kit?

I think the verdict is just buy a new one. You're going to have to re-build a used one anyway. The 44s on Yamaha/Sea-Doos are known to have different internals(from what I've read).

Do you have the 44 Intake Manifold for the 550?

Yes - I currently have the BN44. Will purchase a spacer for the manifold to push it out far enough for clearance.

So the ad says "OEM replacement for Yamaha SuperJet" for the one on ebay. I see lots of after market ones too (not Mikuni) like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...k_ql_qh_dp_hza IT's an after market SBN44. I wrote the poster of this and they told me it was designed for Yamaha. I'm sure it was... but would it work on the 550? For $125 it's tempting. This is a second or third ski for us and saving $75 is appealing. Thoughts?

You'll have no regrets for buying new Mikuni. I recently bought one from partsgiant.com for under $190. I did change high jet, needle/seat and spring for my application - got those items from Blowsion.

The R-Type comes with T-handle needles, choke removed and a nipple for a primer is already installed.

I would not touch a knock off Carburetor. That one looks to have the stock style needles that Yamaha puts on SuperJets. You have to pop the plastic cap off to expose the slot for adjusting.
