    Conversion Ski

    Hello

I am considering putting a 701 in a JS550 hull. I'm wondering if someone has done this and is parting out the ski or started but never finished. I am looking for the exhaust and the Rhaas conversion kit.

    Joe

    Yes, we have done this.

My advice - stick with a Kawi engine in the 550. 650, 750, 800 is a MUCH better fit, easier conversion, and will make more power than you need in a 550 if done correctly.

    Re: Conversion Ski

I would do a Kawasaki engine but I don't have one. I need the engine, ebox, and exhaust. I found a good deal on a complete Yamaha engine with a e-box and exhaust that would work for my '94 Superjet if I needed it.

Have you thought about a Tigershark 640 swap? I really can't believe more people don't it. Makes as much power as the Kawi 750, fits in nice and easy with no expensive conversion parts to buy, and you can pick up an old Tigershark for next to nothing.

Mine's nt finished yet but here it is.....http://www.pwctoday.com/showthread.php?t=488735

I had not thought of that. What would a Tigershark engine cost? I am able to get the Yami for $850 with everything (ebox, exhaust, start stop switch). What would the electronics cost?

You should be able to buy a WHOLE ski for $850.... IMO that is no screaming deal.

Look for a Kaw 750SS, SSXi, STS etc. All can be had for little money. That would give you your whole engine, electrics, etc.

If you want to stay Yamaha, there are many 701 models you can get for around a grand, or less...

    Re: Conversion Ski

Is $800 good for a complete '94 701 with a e-box and exhaust? I was thinking that was a good deal since the e-box alone is $200.

    Re: Conversion Ski

I just recently did the and just took the stock 440 bedplate and redrilled the holes to match the 701 black and shimmed it up. Electronics are pretty straight forward.

So you didn't use the Rhaas kit? Do you have pictures of the engine, exhaust, electronics, and bedplate?
