    650sx cooling help

Hey just having more trouble with my 650sx.In the driveway it flushes out fine with a steady stream out the pisser.when I get it in water itís blowing steam out the pisser and I have to play with the carb idle.
Now Itís pretty modded so that throws a monkey on top.It has Coffman gen 2 pipe and waterbox,44mm carb and intake, aftermarket high compression ocean pro head.Does anyone know what it could be.I didnít do a leak down test for compression.

steam out of the pisser is almost always a leaky head gasket

Thanks for the response.Changed the head gasket was blown at the right side water jacket and put a Mariner head on that I picked up off this site.Took the jug off and cleaned up the cylinder last night.Fresh gaskets and 1211.Hopefully that does the job.

Gotta be real careful using 1211 or any other sealant on the head gasket. The squeeze out of the sealant tends to clog up the small water passage holes...Best advice is use the stock metal gasket with the black coating.

I agree it’s just trying to get the head to seal up without it is tough especially when your running high comp.My main reason for trying this method is because the metal with the black blew twice on me already no luck so went back to good ole fiber.
Just went with a thin butter layer of 1211 on either side to make up the difference in the mating surfaces if any imperfections

Never use sealant on a head gasket, you’re just asking for complications.

I’m not a big fan of some of the cheaper stuff on the market from an auto parts store but 1211 is top of the lone and recommended by most pax engine builders.Just have to meet and not get it into cylinder and water jacket.Im tired of blowing head gaskets so willing to try using 1211

If you keep blowing gaskets, my guess is you have another issue. Head warped/cracked, top of cyl not straight/true, not torqueing or re-torqueing correctly, etc.

There should be no need for sealer. We build plenty of high compression engines, and have no issues.

A Kaw 650 engine came stock with a thin (.010) Stainless head gasket. "IF" you switched to a fiber gasket, they are typically around .040 thick. This can screw up your squish spec, and will also lower compression about 30lbs or more.....
