    03 xlt 800 keeps breaking new power valves PLEASE HELP!

    I am now on my second rebuild for BOTH of my 03 Waverunners in 16hrs run time. Each ski broke brand new SBT power valves. What am I doing wrong?

      Is that a question? Yes. Factory power valves failed. Snapped at stem. Now sbt pv also snapping at stem. 16 hrs between 4 rebuild on 2 skis

        Power Valves need to be trimmed according to the Piston size. For each Piston size increase, the Power Valves Blades need to be trimmed. Or else the Blade will impact the Piston Tops.

        Also, if the Power Valve Housing guides are worn out and allow the Power Valves to flutter or 'Butterfly", they will break pretty fast. The Power Valve Slots wear out because, when Power Valves are not cleaned every season, the hardened Carbon buildup wears the slot bigger like sandpaper. You might need more than just new Power Valve Blades.

          One ski has stock cylinders...the other has new sbt cylinders is stock bore. The guides are snug. What do I look for in the slot to see if that is too worn? Shouldn’t be on the sbt cyl but maybe they didn’t check??

              SBT removes the Nikasil and inserts Cast Iron Sleeves...

                which should be standard size then ! so no trimming

                  Are you sure? Did you measure both SBT Bores to confirm?

                  They've been known to only replace one Sleeve, if the other Sleeve is still usable!
