What is the wear ring to impeller gape look like. use feeler gauges and measure it. the plastics rings are horrable. if it new it doesnt mean it good. see it all the time. rob

Make sure all the seams around the pump support to the pump tunnel are sealed up.

Iíve checked everything Iíve replaced pump Iíve replaced the wear ring Iíve taken the shaft out and looked at the carbon seal and boot I know the engine is slightly out of Alignment can that cause this? Itís also started overheating recently and I am attributing that to the cavitation. Next step is a new impeller.

Re: Cavitation Problem 04 gtx 185

I just went through helping a customer chase down cavitation on a twin engine 4tec boat. After new aluminum pumps it got a little better but still was there. He ended up buying 2 new impellers from Impros and the problem went away. Turns out somebody had changed out impellers in the past to who knows what, and they were not correctly pitched fr his application.
