Heard over on another forum that Zippo Lighter Fluid works...apparently it has Naptha in it, and that removes it?

Haven't tried it but might buy some if I remember next time I see it on a shelf.

If you prefer to use a "targeted" product, Mean Green Mildew Destroyer from Dollar General works as good as any household or marine product I've tried. If it doesn't work for you, you're only out $2 (qt.).
    Thank you for any feedback!

Are you recommending applying bleach directly? And is there any specific brands or specification to try?

I did soak the cover in a diluted water “real” bleach mix…

I did not see any change at all in the appearance after checking and rubbing on it in 1/2hr intervals over a half a day.

This is very likely “mildew” that has made these discoloration dots? We have had several other SPXs with the Yellow covers, and never seen one do this…fortunately my 2 other 99SPX have the black handlebar covers so I doubt this will be a issue on those.

My assumption is that the rubber material is far more porous than I had anticipated?

Even the most harsh chemicals that dissolve the rubber material still do not remove the black discoloration in the slightest…I can remove copious amounts of the yellow rubber to the point the cast texture is completely gone, yet the staining remains…

Things go all over the place and have been reliable work horses!

I second this. I used spray-on vinyl dye to change the seat color from grey to black on a tube-frame ORV I once had. I was pleasantly surprised how "factory" it looked, and how durable. Stood up to sun, rain, mud and didn't rub off.

Is there a possibility you would post a before and after photo please?

I am hesitant to spray a flexible rubber material and expect a positive long term result, but am starting to warm to the idea of trying.

As a side note, there are Mold on this Planet that literally eat Plastic.

Plastic is made from Hydrocarbons (Oil) which is Organic and thus can sustain Life.

So it is not simply a Stain on the Vinyl Surface. The Mold has literally digested it.

DaveinPA is a member here on this forum who has figured out how to get them perfectly clean again. He has not shared the method but does offer to save the ones you send to him for a fee. He can't work with the ones that are crumbling apart obviously.

    Damn!

Assuming he is not pulling everyones leg...That looks like a new cover from limited photos...maybe that's his secret...New Old stock?

I searched for any tell that it was the same pad shown, and I don't see any equivalency to assert that is the same pad, particularly the scarring on the right hand side VS his completed ski.
