    2019 SJ Impeller question

I just purchased a new 2019 SJ. I'm looking to gain some bottom end and hopefully less cavitation. Is it worth adding an impeller to a stock set up? if so any idea what brand or pitch?

The newer SJs have a pretty damn respectable impeller compared to the old days. I'd stick with it ESPECIALLY for a stocker. And you shouldn't have any cavitation on a new ski.
Changes aren't permanent, but change is.

Agreed the stock 08-later impeller is much better than the earlier years, BUT there is always room for improvement. In stock form it is very thick. A Hooker, or Modified Solas will perform much better than the stock, and with all the hype on the internet on how great the stock impeller is, you can sell it to help off set the price of a new impeller.

AN after market impeller will perform better than a stocker, but you have to be realistic you are not going to get major gains...

If you do a little tuning, along with an impeller, you can/will notice some nice gains.

If you want to stay "stockish" I would advance the timing a few degrees, cut the head for increased compression, dry out the stock pipe, remove choke plates and some screens in the stock flame arrestors, install a primer and re-jet the carbs. With this you will still be very reliable, appear stock, and notice a nice gain in throttle response, mid range hit, and maybe even just a little on the top.

If you are having cavitation issues you either have some debris stuck in your pump, fishing line around your driveshaft or you dinged/bent your impeller.
