Bought my first PWC a '96 Eckler! Now I need a parts source.

Hello everyone, been a member for almost a year now lurking. I have my Eckler stripped down to the bare hull and am getting ready to start putting it back together after I finish some gel coat repairs. Can anyone recommend a good supplier or part stores for purchasing things like the shifter cable, jet prop wear ring housing, engine shims Etc? I'm planning to start a thread in the project forum later this week if I can Master the picture posting.

That should be OEM yami stuff. 144mm pump in yours? I have tons of 144mm wear rings and shims. Is the shifter cable simply a WR3 reverse cable?

Was the engine originally misaligned when you got the ski?

I believe it is the 144 but not 100% sure how to tell. That or how to tell which midshaft I have. I have the stock ring now which has corroded and jammed the prop. I want to use an aftermarket ring that is replaceable. It has a seperate reverse cable which is fine but the steering cable jacket is shot.

This was my alignment. Not too bad from what I read, just thought it would be a good idea to have the shims before I might need them.

I have both new, (Aftermarket wear rings with plastic liner) and good, freshwater used parts here. I have new shims, new & used cables, and most anything else you would need.

What you have is very common, same as a WR3.

Your original wear ring is swollen due to salt water corrosion behind the stainless liner. (Common in salt water machines). I will say, I really doubt one with a plastic liner will last longer or be better. Personally I do not like them.

Feel free to email watcon@watcon.com or call my shop 608-743-1305 we ship parts daily, and can take visa and master card over the phone.

That's 144 stuff. Replaceable rings are still gonna swell and squeeze the impeller. Post some pictures of the steering cable. I have those too. Will make you a package deal on an OEM wear ring (more than 1 if you want), whatever shims you want (they come in various thicknesses, I have all of them), and whatever cables you want. All nice freshwater stuff. I had a wr3 for a long time and was hoarding a lot of wr3 parts as spares, but sold it last summer, so now my spares are up for grabs.

No, the steering cable(bottom) has a longer throw it seems than the reverse cable(top).

    I think I confused you.

I wasn't asking if the steering cable is the same as the shifter cable. I was asking if the shifter cable they used is simply the same cable Yamaha used as the reverse cable on the WR3 models, as I suspect it might me. I also suspect that the steering cable they used is also just a yamaha steering cable, perhaps from a WR3 or maybe a WR500/650LX.
