    Bigger Bore on a 701

    Hey everyone
Hope your all having a great day,
Just 2 quick questions about the 61x 701 motor and bore, so for my build im using a 701 and will he buying a new set of pistons and running an ada 185lbs girled head.
So 1. Can i simply get the 701 jugs bored or do they have liners. 2. How much of an over bore would be ideally suited for someone who wants to stay running pump gas?
    Many thanks guys n gals

you can bore them from 82-84mm. (754cc) You will need to see what they are currently at before boring them. If they have already been bored to 84mm you will need to get new sleeves or a new cylinder.

As long as you don’t go too far, yes.
Changes aren't permanent, but change is.

Also know, "if" you bore up to 84mm (760 pistons) you will need 84mm (760) head domes to match your new large bore. 701 head domes are too small.

I was only thinking about taking it out to maybe a 718cc as i dont want to go to far but figured if im buying forged pistons might as well go a bigger.
Also if i can go up to 760 could i just buy 64x jugs to mount to my 61x bottom end?

Unless you go way bigger like 2mm don't expect any huge power increase even at 2mm oversize from the 701 the 760 gets most of its additional power from way bigger carbs , bigger ports and a much better pipe setup.

You will lose some of the low end snap going to a 760. Look up differences between 61x 62t and 64x. You can however, get more power and the low end snap back with higher compression, advancing the timing, and/or decking the cases to lower the ports. You may also need to bore your cases to fit the 760 cylinder on 61x cases. But like WFO said, if you are going to go down that rabbit hole you will want carbs, a good exhaust, and then you will need a new impeller, so at this point you may as well just buy a Dasa 1100.
