    2003 XL700 Engine Seized.Options??

Debating on what to do with this.

Engine is seized and just want to see what my options are and who sells rebuilds. Can I get a larger motor? Is it even worth fooling with?

    thanks

If your thinking of holding on to it you could upgrade to a 760 but that will require some carb work to run right. Plus possibly other parts such as different mid bearing to fit it. If you put the the 700 back it's a bolt in. If it's running you certainly can sell for more but you won't have much profit with motor cost and time spent doing the work. Parting it out is an option but again time consuming with a bit more profit.

As for motors steer clear of sbt. There parts are ok but complete motors are a crap shoot. Poor assembly, missing/incorrect parts. Pwcengines is better bet with basically the same price/warranty point. Much better quality from what I've heard.

Thanks Dave, I bought two of these that had been sitting for years on a trailer.

One spins free and one is locked up. Both need new starters and carbs rebuilt. Iíll probably get the good one running then go from there.

It locked up just from sitting? Maybe a piston ring got stuck or something.. have you tried spraying some WD-40 down in the cylinder and letting it sit? Or maybe put some oil in there? Just wondering what would happen if you tried to work it loose.. or why it froze up in the 1st place.
