    Re: 550/650 rebuild build

looks fancy my friend! my neighbor just told me he has a 550 i can have from him, if i pay for the new crank he bought (not sure how much yet) . im going to take a look at it tomorrow, he says its dual carb and has some aftermaket goodies. ill have to at least rebuild the carbs, new plugs, battery and turf. look into rideplates and impellers, i want to jump waves with it so everything towards acceleration. will be a good winter project. what type of paint did u paint the exhaust with?

A bigger nozzle is something I really want to do. I just need to find one that allows me to use the stock siphon bilge. I donít run a bilge, the stock one has always been enough for me.

As for the paint, I just used high heat engine paint from advance auto.

Here's a nozzle bored w/ the siphon tube re-installed so the stock bilge can still work - not too bad of a price either:

Although for a little more an ocean pro reduction would pair nicely with your steering nozzle... That is the combo I run on mine until I do the big pump conversion.

    Re: 550/650 rebuild build

Just a little update on this thing

I sent my nozzle out to get bored and apparently itís been bored sometime before. He was able to get another mm out of it though.

The biggest update though is I picked up a brand new factory pipe that I will be running this year. Iím super stoked to get some tray time on this thing this year.

    Re: 550/650 rebuild build

cool build.... are you running the 550 ignition coil on your 650 engine? (it must work, but is the 550 CDI timing suitable on the 650? Just wondering). Have you noticed much of a performance increase with the reed stuffers? (they seem to be recommended on Kawi 750/800 engines but the info on a stuffed 650 is rarely mentioned these days). I'm not bashing your build , just curious.

    Re: 550/650 rebuild build

I just run the 550 e-box and I swapped the 650 voltage regulator.

As far as the stuffers, I donít notice that much if any difference. I also got to ride the ski for about 7 minutes total after I built it in the fall
