    Re: R&D Stinger Insert

We are running the Hooker 10/16 on my wifeís lites boat and she loves it. It lets her power out of the turns easier. We are also running the stinger reducer. It runs really well. Youíll like the combo Iím sure. Note, we werenít concerned with all out top end speed as our buoy courses usually have relatively short straights. We were more concerned with buoy to buoy speed. That impeller will be good for a play around boat as well. Everyone else we know is running the Skat 10/18 as Johnny stated, you canít go wrong with that choice either.

#1 prop historically was a 13/22 solas dynafly. Sometimes bent down to a 13/21 for more rpm. #2 prop was the stock prop thinned out. Spun more rpm than the dynafly but just not as fast top end. Dynafly has best mid to top

80mm nozzle is a good mod. 82 works too. We used the vaned ST nozzle at 82.7 (that’s what size they are)

That stinger is a little tight (small) Opening up a little will give you more hit. Somewhere in the 44-46mm range if your not racing and running real good gas

With mods, tuning, timing, you should get 51-52mph. Every little trick 52.5+

You mean I should bore out the stinger insert to 44-46mm?

I think it comes like 35mm new? I’d go 44. Oem hole if I recall is 52mm?
You could try 35 and it you don’t like how much bottom end your loosing then bore it.

Yes, our engine was set up by Brian Boell at Ultimate Watercraft. We are running the timing jumper.

Is it ok to use the timing jumper on a stock ski?, I have always used 93 octane fuel. Also should I remove the trumpets from the air box or leave them in. I don't have a pipe, and I haven't got the stinger insert yet, I don't know if the timing advance would yield more power or the insert. I was told not to use both at the same time.

We are using both the jumper and the R&D advance plate. Ours was set up by Brian Boell at Ultimate Watercraft and weíve had no issues.
