Now that Rummage Blast is over, and I have effectively cleared out my garages to the point where I can work on sh1t again, progress on this SJ will resume shortly. Watch for updates.

More progress. Got the Blowsion steering and bars installed. I also got the new handlepole pivot bushings epoxied in place. Also note the epoxy around the chinpad and steering cable brackets. Little extra trick I have been doing for years. Those riveted in brackets all like to wiggle loose eventually, so I scuff the area around the base of each bracket and apply some epoxy to help keep them snug.

Handlepole and Blowsion heavy duty spring is now installed. No helpers today, so it was yet another I got to do by myself. There's a trick that makes it easy. I have a tool I "made" when I was 16 when I started working as a motorcycle mechanic at a Honda & Suzuki dealer. I was changing lots of tires, so I needed a punch of some kind for knocking out stubborn axles. I went to our salvage area and grabbed an axle from a smaller honda mini bike, probably an old 50cc. The axle was plenty long but just slightly less diameter than big bike axles, so I cut off the threads and rounded the head - and proceeded to use it as a tool a few thousand times since 1984. So, when installing a handlepole and stiff spring, I guide my "axle punch" tool through the pole and spring first, the opposite way that the pole bolt goes. Then I simply knock the pole bolt through, using a plastic mallet, and the pole bolt essentially follows my punch tool with a minimum amount of persuasion. This one today took me maybe 5-10 minutes and no sweating or busted knuckles .

More progress and tricks. Underneath this front bumper is a few healthy beads of 3m 5200 Fast-Cure. This bumper will now never peel back when doing nose stabs. Also, note the silicone sealant used prior to installing the nose piece. This nose piece will now never pop off and crack when doing subs.

    Just a quick reminder:
Saturday, May 30th, 2020, some lucky person is going to win this Super Jet. With every fundraiser ski I have built and then ultimately given away since 2012, I frequently express how bittersweet it is for me to see these skis go bye-bye - as I build them as if I am keeping them for myself, but I'm also thrilled to see that so many others are excited with the chance to own and enjoy these skis. However, as a 29-year Yamaha Squarenose enthusiast/builder/racer, I can already tell that giving this one away is going to be the toughest one yet. I always joke that someday I will buy a raffle ticket to try and win one of these skis, but I never have. Maybe for JB20 I will buy a ticket .
