So since the price of these pump cones have gone up it has me wondering if there is an alternative that’s better???

No alternative to a pump stuffer. The TBM or R&D stuffer is your cheapest "mag" pump option.

    What differences did you notice?

The alternative would be a Skat or Solas pump. It will be better, but will cost many times more than the pump stuffer.

Better hook up and less cavitation. Put it in with other changes but possibly better acceleration and top end.

I installed mine last, after all kinds of mods on my 650sx. I feel it gave me better acceleration, better hook up, and less cavitation at times.

Did you already have a Big hub impeller?

My SXR had the big hub on it(stock), making it a mixed flow pump. Putting the R&D Stuffer in it last summer made the ski feel much more hooked up. The pump is now matching the speed of the water entering it.

My correlation has been that a mixed flow pump is like doing a power slid on a sport bike, while axial flow feels like being on rails. Power sliding is fun, but rails hold the edge

    Worth the $300 for sure.

Yes, I had a C75 big hub swirl 9/17 prior to the R&D pump stuffer. I also added an R&D top loader when I did the pump stuffer, and the ski can carve really well...

How does a big hub impeller turn a axial flow pump into a mixed flow? All you are doing is changing the hub diameter, as long as your outer pump walls are cylindrical, its still axial.
