    1994 SC 650 starter solenoid

The original starter solenoid on my 1994 SC 650 went out so I ordered a replacement from bayareaproducts, who were very helpful and said the one they sent was the proper one. It was almost an exact fit, except for being a bit too high in the center and the black and yelow/red wires soldered to the top appear reversed. The problem is, once I hit the starter the starter motor won't turn off until I romove the positive power cable from the battery! I tried reversing the red power cables to the posts on top of the solenoid and I get the same reponse: the starter motor goes on as soon as I touch the positive cable to the battery. Any ideas?

Cheap, made in china, aftermarket crap start relay. (Sticking internally)

That or you have something wired incorrectly, and 12v continually energizing the relay.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought I wired it the same way as the original. But if I did notm,c oudl that have damaged in internally? Should I go to my dealer and get a stock replacement (Hitachi is the maker of the original)?

Is there way to test for proper wiring?

You need to look at a wiring diagram for your particular ski. I am betting it is the relay that is bad.

It was a bad replacement solenoid. The second one that Bay Area Powersports sent me -- for free -- worked. They were great to work with and covered all the shipping costs and were attentive to my questions, fyi.
