Yes. You're correct on the 2014 VXR which is completely different than the 2015-2019s. Its commonly known that the newer version is about 3 mph slower than the older hulls. My 2012 VXS and 2013 VXR run neck and neck with each other with both topping out right at 67 mph measured with gps on smooth water. If the water isn't very smooth, they'll lose several mph. That's just the way it is with skis when the jet pumps can't 100% hook up with the water.

When you measured 60mph with gps, what were the water conditions? If the water wasn't very smooth, that would explain your slower speed. In ideal water, I'd expect about 63 mph on gps with your ski.

I know that this is an old thread from last fall but I was wondering if you, jimyed ever got this issue figured out?? Are you still around?

The ski has been in storage all this time. I've had some health problems. I'll pull it out in May...

60 mph was dead calm water--glass as they say..if it would run 63 with gps I would be happy. Also has new ride plate--came stock on the ski...

Thanks for responding, jimyed. Dead calm, glass water. Yes, I'd expect a little more than 60mph on gps.

I hope you're getting better and are able to get out on the water in May.

The frustrating part of this is everyone tells me what the dealer SHOULD do---thats not what is happening. They don't want to mess with you once they get your money. And they aren't very nice about it---I live a long way from a dealer--so it's a 2 day ordeal just to get it there and it can sit there for weeks. Then they charge me and say it's fine...you can't trust any of them...can the dealer tweek the ECU? I can't get an answer from them?

Both of my 2006 VX's will do over 65. One is a little faster than the other (not sure why) but in glassy water, one will do 68-69 and the other will do 65-66. Both are completely stock.

Hard if not impossible for me to believe that a completely stock 2006 VX could reach those speeds under their own power. Try measuring the skis' speed using a GPS and get an accurate reading. We don't call the stock speedometers "dreamometers" for nothing.
