650sx: stator replaced, still having issues, need advice!

Where do I start. A while back I had an issue where the ski just cut off. Tried two different coils and no go. Replaced the stator and flywheel and I've got Spark. I've got 150 psi of compression on both cylinders. If I use the primer then I get a little kickback like it's having pre ignition but it runs for a nanosecond then cuts off. The first time this happened, I pulled the flywheel back off and it had sheared the Woodruff key. I installed the flywheel with a new Woodruff key and the same thing happened?? I remove the flywheel again and found that the Woodruff key was intact. My first thought was ignition timing, but the stator is on the original zero degree mark, but it's still not starting. I believe that the Woodruff key sheared because of the pre ignition issue. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

OEM bought used. This last woodruff nearly sheard as well. I removed the woodruff and installed the flywheel by itself to ensure the flywheel was seating completely with the woodruff as without. Looks nearly identical. There's the chance that I didn't torque it all the way down, but it still doesn't explain the lack of ignition timing because the keyway was still intact. Seems odd.

It's the 4 wire Kawi that we talked about previously on a different post. Do you have a mint cdi and stator to sell? Those are the only two things it could be in my mind. What are your thoughts?

Maybe cdi stuck advanced , I've seen the stock Mitsubishi cdis get stuck in rev limiter mode a lot , but not advance mode yet

So the cdi has that much control over ignition timing? I wasn't aware. Still learning them. I have my original cdi that I could try.

So another question. Have you had any experience with bad gas or a bad mix causing these types of problems? Like maybe it's loading up with bad fuel. I noticed these issues came about directly after filling up with fuel. I've been getting 89 ethanol free gas from the same gas station since the beginning of the season, however I recently switched to that Quicksilver synthetic blend 2-stroke oil. I'm kinda wondering if I have water in my gas or something. Or maybe my carb took a ****? I've read that they can overload the engine with gas.

I have seen a couple cdi's with a crapped timing advance circuit.
Bring front piston to top dead center, mark pto coupler on top with a sharpie. Grab an old school timing light and hook it to the front plug wire, crank it over and watch the sharpie mark. If it's WAY off or dancing around different places then the cdi is bad.
