    None so far.

Question though, is water supposed to go through the whole exhaust including the muffler? My decker pipe has 2 hose barbs, one that comes off the manifold and one smaller one that goes directly into the exhaust. I was having an issue with the pipe and muffler getting extremely hot which i know its not supposed to do.

Probably answering my own question but i want to make certain before i do anything

yes water runs through the whole exhaust system, the way most watercraft exhaust work is the water goes through the exhaust pipe which preheats it some before it hits the cylinders, then it come out at the top of the head and at the top of the exhaust manifold, some of it runs down the pipe to cool off the waterbox and the rubber parts of the exhaust system.

Not only the amount but also the rpm you add water will greatly affect performance.

I know this thread is a little old but I wanted to update everyone real quick. So as you can imagine things got pretty busy for me and I can only work on the weekends for projects so i was unable to really complete the project, plus i was dealing with a "rev on trailer but not in water" issue as well as getting everything to cool well enough to not set everything ablaze in the jet ski..all of which is now resolved. I have taken it on short runs and I can say for a 580 this thing rips! Very fun in the water, easy to spin out, wave jump etc.. the whole 9 yards! I am really excited to test the top speed in this unit because I think It will surprise alot of you. So this weekend I will be officially taking it out on the maiden voyage for the top speed run! I speculate with as much "get up an go" as this has compared to other 2 strokes I have rode I bet this thing will get darn close to 50mph if not maybe a little more. I also removed the intake grate entirely to get the best possible mph.

I also went ahead and put a 159 degree rotary valve in it instead of the 140-something I initially wanted.

Got it up to 42mph but the ski was Porpoising so bad i really couldnt go much faster. I will be adding an extended rode plate to help with this. Only had at 3/4 throttle and the ski is still running a little lean on the top and bottom end so 50mph seems completely possible at this point.

Alright..I know this is an old thread BUT this jet ski build is still very much active. So long story short summer of 2020 the exhaust manifolds cracked and failed so I decided to go back to stock cylinders. Put it up for the winter and now I'm back on it.

    New additions:

The cylinders where ported by pwcextreme, I managed to find a brand new splash head @170 psi, a lightweight jetnetics flywheel, I ported the crankcase to match a 657x intake design and I'm using the 657x carbs.

I will take this out on the lake Friday or Sunday and update with specs of the new build

It has been a crazy (going on) 3 years with this jet ski but my life is crazy busy so I don't get a lot of time to do the things I enjoy

Nice to hear an update. I know the feeling, I have a couple of years long builds as well.
