Re: 1989 seadoo 587 full build!! Pipe, Cylinders, prop, etc..

By chance do you remember what your top speed was for the jet ski? I just found out today that my seadoo has a PSI rev limiter in there, not sure what they top out at but i would assume 7500 rpm.

And to everyone saying, yes i do realize that the reason the ski doos are 100hp is because of the rpm but my best guess is about 85hp because it wont be going 10k rpm in the water, i know that. Im shooting for maybe 7k which should be good for about 85hp. I also have a stainless steel prop at 19 degrees of pitch (i think) maybe 20 but i cant remember. I managed to find a high compression head for this engine so thats why i went with a steaper pitch.

Also another thing..one reason why i really wanted to use these cylinders is because of the rave valve. I can adjust them more for low end so i can utilize the most out of the engine assembly and i have alot more tune-ability for peak hp and torque.

And of course the last reason was because everyone says these engines are crap. drop a 720 in there etc.. i want to really see what these things are capable of and at this point i think its safe to say ive got everything that you can possibly do to these engines, done.

I put dual 1992 or 91 xp carbs vs the single. Im not sure what MM they are but i think they are bigger than 38..but im not sure.

So long story short im just trying to max out this ski as much as possible.

But on a side note..there is a psi pipe i can get, are those better for PEAK hp??

I think the Psi would be better than the Decker. An old Coffman would probably be even better. You'll just have to try a few and see what does the best.

The Decker is going to crack, same with the PSI or any other pipe made from stainless steel, been there done that and repeated several time always with the same results, either a Rossier or PJS pipe if you can find one, a Westcoast or Coffman if you can't find one of the first two.

So here is the almost finished product. I will be getting the manifold ceramic coated inside and out as a water jacket is too difficult for me. Rogo head on there as well if anybody is wondering.

I was wondering what you were doing for an exhaust manifold, question answered
