    Hull paint

Helping a friend build a 650 for his wife and wondering what everyone is using to paint their hulls. Don't want to break the bank, but also want something durable that is going to last. I have a bunch of painting equipment so no problem buying something that doesnt come in a rattle can. Recommendations?

I did mine in single stage PPG. Shine is great still after 2 years in the sun and has been fairly durable.3C8E38EF-1877-4FAF-9A90-AF2641A1F966.jpeg

Not sure what is considered breaking the bank but I had mine painted with awlgrip for $500 just the hull..I do know this paint is exceptionally strong but elastic as I had it on my 78 Galaxie..not the best picture but after 6 years it still was shiny as new..

    Re: Hull paint

A frequent mistake after painting a hull is riding the ski before
it has cured. Often the paint will appear like it has cured, but
it will have poor impact resistance.

I recommend waiting a month, it may seem like a long time, but
it is better than an unexpected ding in the paint.

I just went through this with my 750sxi. The closest color is imron ms600 cumulus white. This was the original Kawasaki white on most of their skis

pepsi white is also very similar to oem kawi white

the dupont imron code for white is LFK8478U.this code may not exist anymore as imron has changed it's composition since.

    Re: Hull paint

Two part polyurethane paints like Awlgrip and Interlux Perfection are the best boating paints you can get. I did my superjet with less than a quart of Interlux Perfection. A quart is only about $80 and you'll need thinner and primer too. If you were doing a whole boat it would be a big deal, but you don't want to cheap out if you're only talking about a difference of $40. Imron is good too, but I think it's a single part polyurethane. Once you get into the two part, you're in a completely different world. I used single part polyurethane on one boat and interlux perfection on another and the two part interlux perfection gets me compliments on the paint all day long. Not bad for something I did in the driveway lol.
