Time to strip, fix and repaint my 550

It's coming to that time of the year where I need to get the ball rolling on my projects. Can anyone direct me on the proper way to strip my fiberglass 550 hull without damaging it or point in in the direction of a form that has some steps and guidelines listed out? My goal is to strip the paint off and repair a couple small chips and cracks in the hull before I send it off to a painter.

Get a power sander (a small one) and just go over it. Or hand sand it, basically scuff the entire ski, Fix your holes, sand those down flush to the hull and paint everything. Grit of sandpaper is important, couldn’t tell you what to start with. But just get sanding

400 is as fine as you want to go when repainting (as instructed by industrial finishes when I repainted mine). Started out more course if needed (200, 150, etc). If needed, use chemicals.

For repairs areas, sand/prep with 150 or 200. You want a courser area when doing fiberglass work.

There is no need to strip the entire hull down to bare fiberglass. The hull is a plasticized fiberglass known as SMC that not all paint will stick to well. If the ski you're painting is the one in the sig, it might be worth sanding through the most recent paint job if it is flaking. If the current paint job is in decent shape, then just a light sanding before primer is all that is needed. Youtube has a ton of great material on the subject, painting a ski is just like painting a car in most respects
