    Re: Js550 surf build

Um. You're building a surf ski, and you don't have the funds for a full rebuild? Dude, you need to check yourself.

So when an unknown motor chunks out in the surf, and you die..............

Priorities man. Get your sh!t sorted before you even think about building a ski, especially a 550, for surf.

    But hey. It's your life.

Can't even imagine, if you rode salt.

Checked myself. Thought about it. Seem to be missing your joke. Don’t really understand the humor? Just posting a build thread. I don’t the funds to buy a new motor or the time to rebuild one. I don’t really want rear exhaust but molding around it sounds better. Riding salt is fun. That’s why I’m using a cheap 550 to do so. Don’t wanna mess up the nice skis. I’ll be in the ski nothing like less than 500. So I’m trying to keep costs down on stuff that might not be necessary.
I won’t die if the ski takes a ****. I got a life vest, so at least I’ll float when I pass out

Meeker don't worry about Whaz. He understandibly has concerns. A JS hull has been ridden in big surf by some extremely talented guys, I don't think you will have any problems as long as you stick to the right conditions. I hope your bit by the bug as I was and realize the short comings of this 30+ year old design and sell everything short of your sole and buy a descent after market surf hull. I the meantime you shall become a better rider / mechanic by going through this progression. Will pm you later

Here's what I found. A stock 440 exhaust piece and a stainless Superjet tube for a rear exhaust conversion. Thought I had more, couple other places to look .KIMG0912.JPG
You could mod the side exhaust without fear of mucking up yours and if it turns out install it. Or go for the rear exhaust mod. PM inbound.

As I get further away from my J's hulls the parts pile gets smaller.

    Re: Js550 surf build

O.k. Let me go at this another way. People die in the surf. That's why you want a reliable ski. Not a clapped, "I don't have time or money to rebuild" motor.

And yeah, don't worry about me. I'd never go out in surf with you. I can rock a js in anything, but I know my ski would be legit.

    Carry on, I'm done here.
