Let's see: we have a 24 year-old Top End fail, humm What would be the Root Cause?

Maybe it's 24 years of wear and tear on the 24 year old Pistons and Rings...lol

I broke a mystery skirt once on kawi 750, I thought it caught Erving on its side but I bet it took in water when I blipped it rolling it back over, stand ups go over so much

LOL yes I know. 24 years. Not many get that out of there skis.

Ok. Well is underway. Took the cylinder block to my new Jetski guy. The cheapest fix? Reco cylinder head swap, supplied with new piston and ring kit from the USA. That’s right. Quicker and cheaper by half, on both counts. Should be here in three or four days. So I can order standard or oversized but I believe it’s going to make no difference. So I guess we are going back to standard. Thanks for your help. When something like this happens you feel a bit in the dark. Don’t know what I’d do without these forums.

    Thanks again.

Split and clean the Crankcase and install new Crank Seals, if not, the new Top End will not survive long due to Air leaking thru the 24-year old Crank Seals.

Same goes for the Carb; rebuild it.

Thanks for you help. Ski is back together and running better than i ever remember.
Found a few other issues like reed valve gaskets were missing, engine mounts were all broken.
All fixed now. Ive ordered a new top end for my other ski.
    Thanks again.
