    Dual SBN 46 tuning

    750
    1mm over stock bore
    Potted and polished
    Factory pipe
    Timing advanced

    Carbs are dual 46 sbn
    125 pilot and main
Pop off 19 but the spring is not correct so pop off may be an issue
Seems like I lost more than I gained with these things
Runs great but just doesnít seem right
Power band isnít as light switchy as it used to be and for how much is into the engine it seems kind of disappointing
    Too much carb either way?

Def not too much carb. Was the carbs the only change or were there also other mods along with them?

I had all the bolt ons as above and the motor was ported blah blah. I had dual 40s off a sxi and the powerband was definitely a light switch. Got the bigger carbs and they were reverse jetted. Likes the bottom end but not the top. I think it was like 140 low and like 100 top. Went too 130 low and 110 main still not that great. 125 for both and it runs good. 1-1/2 our on the bottom I think. And 7/8 on the top. Might need a bigger low jet. Idk it was just kind of disappointing. Power is much more linear but isnt as snappy as Iíd like. I realize the bigger carbs lose the pressure as the air doesnít go through as small of an opening. You get more top end theoretically because of the more air plus more fuel equals braap. Letís just say a buddyís stock 09 round nose is about as fast as this thing. Disappointed.

You said reverse jetted. Are these NOVIS or some other modded carb or stock 46s? It sounds like you are close but not quite jetted right.

Have you checked your pop off with a gauge? I am not too keen on kawa jetting but my yamaha 771 with all bolt ons and porting with factory mod pipe I run 130 Pilot 120M 24PSI pop off.

The pop off is honestly what I think the problem is. Itís running at 20ish but itís not the correct spring and I havenít changed it. So someone stretched or messed with a spring to get it that high.

20psi is 20psi regardless of the spring used. What the gauge shows is all that counts.

I would start with new springs and verification of NS size, then test pop off with a gauge if for nothing else to prove that the needle is in good condition and not leaking by or sticking.

All the 46s and 48s I have used worked well with a 2.5ns and 115g
