    Why no yamaha twin pipes?

Kawa has twin pipes for everything from the 550 to the 800. But why where twin pipes never done on a Yamaha 650 or 701 engine?

A guy in Britain did twins on an SJ. I’ve seen twins in a couch on a 62t. Blaster I think They used two pipes from the GP1200. Lots of pics on x of those

As much racing R&D that went into the SJ in the 90's I figured there must be a specific reason why they never made them.

Guy on FB has twin FMF pipes on his SJ and says it runs well. Be interesting to check it out and the twin pipe blaster.

Looks like Bill has the answer from the Wax's thread. Factory and R&D must have made the twin 800 pipes just for looks and bloodying knuckles. :P

For +20 years we have known that a well designed single pipe will make the same
peak horse power as a set of duals.

You can better manipulate the curve and acceleration before peak HP, but a well
designed 2 into 1 will pull the same size impeller.
