Re: 92 XP running out of fuel

Well darn i guess the broken fuel line was a coincidence , I just took it for a spin and it boggs bad now so i turned right around and came back and pulled the plugs thinking maybe their fouled but they went from tan to super white like they were new , so its lean as a bean , Oh well the carb kits probably in the po box by now and its due time anyway , more than 13 years since those carbs were messed with last. Also i keep reading to replace all the fuel lines with grey lines ? The ones on it now are black from the tank to the carbs then all the smaller ones are yellow.

These fuel lines aren't original at least not the transparent yellow ones, and maybe i got that wrong , Aren't the grey fuel lines the good ones ? OSD sells grey marine alcohol resistant fuel lines. Also is it ok to take off just two head bolts then torque them back when ready because they go through the carb bracket.

Those are not head bolts, they are just for the carb bracket, and yes, you can take them off.

As I stated earlier, go through the fuel system completely, carbs, lines, fuel select, water separator/filter, etc.

Re: 92 XP running out of fuel

I checked the screw on fuel filter and front internal filter and both were very clean , I didn't check the back yet because i need to take the carb off for that one and need a different wrench , Maybe a crows foot , my stubby 13mm wouldn't do it , Anyway i checked the fuel select knob which i should've at first i guess because i could barley blow air though it even at 120 psi and when i tried it a few more times i couldn't blow any air through it at all whatsoever , so i put it in my can of Berrymans chem dip like i use for auto carbs and blew through it then with a couple chunks of crap flying out , so i just put it in the dip for a second time to see if i get even more air and crap out of it. And yes i looked in the shop manual and found out they were cover head bolts , Anyway I'll post back to see if this works and I'm positive it will now and Thank You for the info because i never would've thought to check the fuel select knob.

Heck yea its up and running better than it ever has and smooth and steady no matter what speed I'm cruising at , This will be so nice to be able to ride beside the wife on the TS , Now I'm going to check the fuel valve on all of them , Thanks again to all for the input i appreciate it.
