    90 psi is the bottom limit on Compression. Ignition needs more compression to properly sustain combustion.

    Need 3 things: Spark, Fuel and Compression.

    The Compression is too low. What is the clearance for the Pistons? Who did the Boring and Honing?

    You mean it had 90psi before the rebuild? What is it now?

    Sounds like it is just flooded.

    What kind of 550 reed engine do you have?

    Even a worn out top end on a JS550 PP can produce the stock 125psi.

    What engine produces 90 psi on both cylinders? That is 85psi low for
    an OEM Kawasaki JS550 reed?

    Compression was 90 psi before rebuild.its at 125-140 now

    125 psi is the stock compression of a 550 pp.

    No watercraft engine should have a 15 psi difference between cylinders.

    This isn't a forklift repair forum, around here, a 5 psi difference could be serious.

    91 550sx all stock not one aftermarket part on it.top end was worn that why I had the motor rebuilt.

    did you have the cylinder bored or just new rings? what head and base gasket are you running? the oem head gasket thickness is .010. thicker gaskets will lower compression. what happened to the engine causing it to need a rebuild? i put a set of fresh pistons and rings on an older cylinder at one time and ran copper base and head gaskets which were both .020with a pjs viper head. cranking compression psi was 130 on each cylinder. it really couldve used a bore at the time as well.

    Cylinder was bored new pistons rings seals and gaskets.reason for rebuild was that it only had 90 psi in each whole.new oem gaskets throughout.cylinderhad a little scaring so I decided to have it bored to be safe.im leaning to it being the stator.ive had a stator on a dirt bike give spark before but no fire.so I’m thinking this could be my issue.i haven’t got this motor to fire since rebuild.
