Complete restore on my 1986 JS550

Howdy from Oklahoma! I bought this boat in 1990. Over the next 4 or 5 years I modified it and rode the shizzz out of it. It died, and went into storage as I couldn't afford another crank. Skip 15 year later and I rebuilt it and had some good luck with it. However my oldest buddy (RIP Tom) fell off of it at my pond and the stupid carburetor spring got caught on the throttle and it beached itself on the far shore. It burned up before we could get there. Skip forward to last year. I met a friend who rode and actually works on them. I gave him a pallet of cash, and my baby is back, better than before. When it was at it's peak it radar'ed at 51.3mph. I'm not sure it's back up to 50mph yet but it's damn close. It walks all of his other ski's and he swears 2 of them are 50mpg boats. Anyway, here she is.

    Major Tom:
All Coffman exhaust from the manifold to the water box
SBN44 on an ocean pro 45degree intake
Cylinder not ported but matched and polished
    175lbs of compression
Sola 15.5 prop/blueprinted and honed pump
    Brand new lower end/crank
    Fresh paint, mats and handlebars.

    Thanks for looking!

Thanks restodsud. Man, like I said, I'm not sure it's back up to 50, but it's damn close. Back in 1990-92 I hung out with the Ingrams here in Ok. Craig still races, but back then these 550's were the dealio. He'd come in consistently 4th place behind some of the old greats, Flyin' Brian, Fish Fisheti and all. We used to watch him on f'n ESPN! Anyway, they'd tinker and decide which combination worked the best, and then I'd go buy that. There boats were all ported and tweeked to the very edge, but mine was the detuned version. Clay had one that radar gunned at 54mph. Mine hit 51.3 that day. (it took a lot further to get there tho. lol)

I have a radar gun and/or a GPS speedometer on order. I'll dang sure post the results as soon as I get them!
