    2006 FX 160 cylinder no3 poor performance

Hi. My first post as a new member. Nice to meet you all.

    looking for some help.

my FX160 appears to be struggling at high rpm.
Starts and idles fine, if you grab a little throttle it revs nicely.
Now if I grab a handful of throttle the revs pick up to around 4000 then almost hits a limiter. If it's on the water the ski will bog down when full throttle is applied.

things I have done so far.

    Run with the seat off
    New spark plugs
    Removed and cleaned the injectors
    Added fuel additive
    Run without the Air filter
Removed the fuel pump and cleaned the filter
Ohm checked the Coil sticks. All ok
    no error codes logged (01)
    compression test all ok
    fuel pressure all ok
signal to injectors and coils ok
    checked the baffles all ok..

    things I have discovered.

spark plug 1 and 2 look a nice blown colour
plugs 3 and 4 look black and a little sooty (signs of over-fuelling)
i have swapped injectors, plugs and coils around and I am unable to move the issue from no3.
It stinks of fuel when running, on pulling the plug off the coil on no3 there is a very slight change in idle.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like a bad ECU. Fairly common problem with the Yamaha 4-stroke motors... the ECU failure causes a fuel injector to remain open and dump too much fuel into the cylinder.
