1995 Yamaha Wave Venture Seats and Needles

I bought this '95 Wave Venture700 in 2000 and decided it now was time to rebuild the twin carbs. 320 hours on this pwc. I purchased Mikuni OEM rebuild kits and new seats and needles, size 1.5. In testing pop-off, I was well over 45 psi - probably close to 50. Spec, I believe, is 30-40. So I tried old seats and needles, and got closer to 40 and noticed hole in old seat was larger than the new ones. I reused the old springs and arms. Did I buy the wrong needles/seats, or perhaps former owner dabbled here, though the ski had only 90 hours at 5 years old when I bought it.
What is the correct needle/seat size?
Is pop-off of 30-40 correct? Got this off SBT website.
Problem prompting the rebuild was very hard starting, though ran well once it warmed up a touch.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated by this new-to-the-rebuild club owner.

    Yamaha 701 is 1.5 needle / seat.

Thank you John. In yesterday's work I found the markings on the seats I removed and they were 1.5 after all.
From the Mikuni site I see that my needle and spring combination - as were removed and as came with the OEM rebuild kit - have a pop-off pressure of 55 psi (the printed spec for this combination). That's about what I tested with old seats and what I am getting with new.

There seems to be wide a variation of opinions on pop-off. SBT suggests the Yamaha 700 is to be 30-40, yet that is much less than what was in this pwc and what the kit provides (I used old springs). I don't understand. Is the recommended pressure unique to a carb, a motor, or a specific motor/pwc combination?

I know this topic gets lots of space in this forum, and you've probably answered this many times before, but any thoughts you have on the pop-off pressure would be most welcome, and I thank you for your reply to my post.

Most Yamaha run a higher popoff. Just leave it at 55psi.

If your ski is stock, there is no reason to change pop off from original settings . You only need to change it when running different flame arrestors, chokes removed, etc to compensate for lower vacuum in the carb venturi.
