4 Tech Timing question on an 05 RXT

    Hello my fellow riders.
On the issue of timing I have, according to the Sea-Doo shop manual, done the following:
    1) Locked the crankshaft with the locking tool while aligned with the line on the balancing shaft, and
    2) Kept Cylinder #3 (three) at top Dead Center.
    3) I also locked the camshaft with the locking tool.
    3) However whether moving the timing chain on the top sprocket, one tooth forward or one tooth backward, I am unable to see both 1503 timing marks line up precisely with the edge of the cylinder head.

    A) Is this common or acceptable? The fact is that both the Crankshaft and camshaft are locked in place does the precise placement of the timing chain and marks matter? Kindly advise.

    Thank You

Put the timing chain on so that the 3 screws do not bind when installing. Those marks aren't crucial. As long as you have both locking tools installed, the timing will be exact no matter what position the sprocket is in. Get the shop manual, it explains it.
