    GP800R oil pump failure

Do these things fail WFO? Mine smokes like mother at idle and I had to richen it up beyond the specs (forgot where i ended up) to keep it from being lean on the bottom end. Carbs were built recently with new everything oem mikuni and pop off was right. Machine is bone stock except being an iron bore motor. I'm tired of little kids asking if my ski is on fire in no wake zones....

They smoke at idle....any 2 stroke smokes at idle. Tell em' to kiss your a@$ and call it sweet! If the cable breaks it goes to failsafe which is max oil injection.

Lol. Dude I know. But trust me this is like napalm levels of smoke, its massively excessive especially for a variable pump. Cable is adjusted to spec.

Yes they go wfo if its a problem with cable. Could just need adjustment. Its marks for adjustment on the pump and arm.

You should run a little better in the power valve engines, a good Ashless oil what I recommend.

I use Amzoil interceptor oil in my GP800r and there is almost no visible smoke at idle. It's designed for power valve motors. It has detergents to help keep upper power valve area clear of sludge, and is as stated a low smoke oil.

If you join up as a preferred customer you can get amzoil at very reasonable prices. Look it up under there buy wholesale tab. The interceptor oil is about $33 a gallon bought in 4 gallon cases that way.
