    Newbie GTX RFI

Hey guys and gals..Newbie here from Tennessee..Just bought a 1998 seadoo GTX RFI.Runs great on trailer,,But put it in the water and the cylinders fill up..Looks like a rebuild.Could that be coming from the top end ,lower end or both???Also there seems to be two models from that year. The (5666) or (5843). How do I know which or does it even matter??Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to the site.

The cylinders fill with water? Could be cracked cyl, bad head, or base gaskets, exhaust manifold, etc.

There should be a decal on your machine somewhere with the model number. Engine wise it should not matter.

Compression test shows 80 psi in pto cylinder and 95 psi in mag cylinder..just wondering if the lower half of engine may be okay.guess it's time for a teardown.

I would totally tear down, and fully inspect every part....

My guess would be somebody did not winterize properly and your cylinders are cracked around the injectors and up to the head mating surface. I've already seen it twice this year.

Planning on a top end rebuild most definitely. With new factory jugs. and pistons. But I want to be sure I get the right parts the first time. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
