    Purchase with no title....

So, what is the climate these days for getting a PWC with no title or registration but with a bill of sale? I live in Florida and have noticed Georgia will register it but I need the most recent registration card with the bill of sale. I have heard rumor that Wisconsin will do it but I am not sure on the details to that.
I THNK if I get something from the last state it was registered in saying the current bill of sale is from the guy it was last registered to....Maybe?

BTW, these skis were free to me and I want to avoid having to "redue" the bill of sale every 30 days to stay legal if/when I get stopped.

Get with whoever in your state takes care of the PWC titles and ask them. (DNR, DMV, etc?)

Sometimesgetting a bonded title is much easier. $75 for one in the state of Arkansas.

HA! That is what I am talking about! I will definitely look into this. I do think at first I will just ride it out with a bill of sale and then go the bonded title route if I cannot get it registered in Georgia (seems to be one of the easier ways to go).

        Thanks!

I live in Alabama, and registered a ski here with just bill of sale in 2017 without a problem. Hope that helps.

Good to know, the Alabama site says you need the previous registration along with the Bill of Sale. Suppose it’s a crap shoot?

Funny you mention that, cause I looked at the fine in Florida for doing that - $150. No thanks.

A long time ago I contacted Kawasaki in California and all I had to do was send them a pencil tracing of the HIN plate. The apparently checked if it was stolen and sent me a new title in my name. This was back in the early to mid 80s so I don't know if they still do it that way.

In wisconsin we register through the DNR, for the last 8 years you can do sleds, skis, and ATV's on line. The last three X2's I registered I had no title, no card and no bill of sale. I put down the amount I amounts I truly paid. Two were $200, the other was $1500, no questions or calls. I have registered a couple of ATV's this way also.

                            Re: Purchase with no title....

I live in Michigan. I bought a old Yamaha Superjet from the original owner, all they had was the registration for it. Went to S.O.S. with signed bill of sale and signed registration and they would not do anything for me without a title because everything with a fixed engine must have a title. So I tried doing a power of attorney ( these people wouldn't go get a new title for me). That did not work. So my fourth time waiting in line at the secretary of state, I finally got a halfway decent guy. He told me they are not aloud to do this very often, but they can call Lansing (state capitol) and do a back ground check using the VIN number. As long as it comes back clean in one hour, they will give you a brand new title. Ticks a guy off that they won't do this with ease.

As long as the ski isn't stolen, you should be fine. But if it is stolen, I hope you drown.
