    Newbie with 650SX

Hey guys, Kyle from St. Louis here, just picked up my first ski, a vintage 1990 Kawi 650SX stand up. Just brought it home and winterized it for now, so it's a little dirty and neglected, but I'll get it ready in the spring. Never ridden a stand up before, cant' wait haha

Dont know too much about it, has an Ocean Pro Ride Plate, intake great, stainless impeller, and some other basic stuff like brand new battery, and converting to premix. Any other suggestions I should do? Mostly just care about rideability and reliability, not power.

Got it for less than $1k with trailer and life jacket. How'd I do?

    Re: Newbie with 650SX

Welcome to the site. Nice looking ski.

I would recommend changing the stock handle bars for something wider, and closer to straight. ( I like the 4 degree) and change out the thumb throttle to a finger throttle. Maybe add a handle pole spring as well if you do not have one, or if it is weak. This makes the pole feel lighter, and will help with rider fatigue.
