    1985 js550 extinguisher cap

I just bought a 1985 js550. It's the red hull with some blue on it. Red/white/blue.
My question is, it didn't come with the extinguisher cap and there are no screw-in threads in the tube. I have a 1977 js440 with the threads.
What cap should I be looking for?

Should have 2 pins that lock on the cap. I may have one.

    Ski situation in limbo!

    Thanks.
I just ordered a cap online. What do the pins look like or do they come installed in the cap? I could probably make them but wouldn't the inside pin interfere with your foot on the deck?
This is another one of my rebuilds. Got to do it right.

The fire extinguisher tube has no indentations to take any pins it's just smooth all the way through. There's a hole on each side of the tube on the outside on the hull. I believe a cross pin goes in to hold the cap on from the outside anyways I found the cap online I just need to figure out where I can get the Cross Pin or find out what it looks like.

Well just ordered this pin. Instead of a twist cap Kawasaki designed this quick pull cap.

I have an '85 and this is fire extinguisher cap. This cap falls off very easy so I secured it with silicone sealant. Unfortunately I can no longer use the storage compartment.

I was able to source a new cap, o-ring gasket and pin but not the handle so I made one out of aluminum. Fits snug.

Look close at my photo. The pin is the plastic bar just behind the handle. It has an eye in the center of it to slide over the cap. He just grabbed the handle and squeeze with your fingers to flex the pin inward and then the cap will pull out.
The stainless screws are there to hold foam on the back so the cap will float.
