? about cooling on an FX/HO

Please bear with me as I try and articulate what it is that I am trying to ask. Hopefully, it is not too confusing.

When I flush my ski, I sometimes get water out of the pisser and sometimes not. This seems to depend on the pressure of my water. I know the ski is okay, because I can hear it come out when I ride. I also understand that I need to have the engine running before I turn on the water so that the exhaust back pressure keeps water from getting into unwanted places (or that is how I understand it anyway).

What I am trying to figure out relative to cooling is if you simply hooked a hose and a funnel to the flush port on the ski, started the engine, and then poured water in the funnel from a gallon jug, would the engine circulate the water well enough to flush it? In essence, doing a "quasi" flush if you had no access to pressurized water. Obviously, the engine pulls in water for cooling when it is running in water but would simple gravity fed water from a jug be circulated or merely exhausted out while flushing out of the water?

    Thanks.

I do not think gravity fed would be enough pressure. I would stick with the hose.

Thanks for the reply. If the internal pump cant circulate water from a gravity fed jug, how does it manage to circulate water when idling in the water?

When the ski is running in the water, the jet pump supplies water to the engine, even at idle speeds it is a lot of pressure.
