    2006 VX110 Rental Governor Question

Greetings from a newbie to this forum. Nicely run from what I've seen.
Bought a mint 2006 VX110 that the PO said he bought from a rental outfit that was going out of business in 2007. According to the PO, the rental company said the ski had a "different spool" that limited the top speed and gave him the original. PO could not find this original "spool" Wife road the ski this summer and it tops out about 44mph according to the speedo and my GPS. My old 1994 VXR Pro will do 50mph and she doesn't like not being able to keep up. Is this ski limited by a different throttle position sensor that is located under the handle bars? If so. can it be un-modified or just replaced with a stock one? Thanks!

Re: 2006 VX110 Rental Governor Question

riva was selling a rental spool to install on throttle position sensor that is a larger wheel which moves the shaft less degrees for the same cable travel making the ski reaching 7000 rpms at 43 44 mph instead of 8000 at 52/53 (speedo) which is exactly the same speed at riding the ski on L MODE .i installed a few of these wheels on my rental skis when i had sports models then i moved to deluxe models and used L mode. Yamaha does not sell original spool, they come with throttle sensor assembly.

Thanks cyrillefrenchy and Mxzx. That makes sense how it works and fits the PO's description. I think I'll try ebay and see what happens. Wife loves the ski compared to her old '92 Waverunner III, but she'll always have fond memories of "Pinky"

Now that you brought this up, I need to look to see if my previous '08 VX rentals had those installed.

I can get 49/50 on the dash with 620 hours, so probably not.

I bought a 99 XL760 rental and it had the throttle cable adjusted at the carb end to only open 3/4
I bought a 2016 V1 sport rental and asked if they did anything to limit top speed - They said no and sure enough it turns 82/8300rpm and 53mph on gps
