    1990 Kawasaki X-2 Compression test

Picked up an X-2 for cheap without hearing it run. Hull was in so good of shape I didn't care to hear it run. Going to run a compression test. What are some good numbers to look for. Also I would like to avoid buying a battery right now because it will be 7 months before ride time. Any tricks to do the test without buying a battery? Thanks guys.

Compression on a stock Kaw 650 should show 150 lbs with a quality gauge. You will need some sort of fully charged, 12v battery to install to check compression.

Big thing is you should not see any variance between the two cyls.

So i got 120 even in both cylinders. Would a cold engine cause it to be that low or something more? I appreciate the help!

With them being even, I would bet it is your gauge reading low.

Did you have the choke off and had it at wot? That’s typically the best way to get accurate readings...

Does not mean it is accurate. Is your battery fully charged?
