difference between x2 and sxr pump tunnel

What is the difference between a x2 and a sxr tunnel.. besides you can easily change impeller..??

is it the flow or length?

Its both. The x2 tunnel has a poorly designed slope. Well at the time it was fine. Problem others, and self included is that once your making 120ish hp, you run into a flow issue. It doesnt matter if your making 300 hp, if you cant feed the prop and pump any more water, there is a limit you reach of output, due to imput. Yes, you get easy impeller swaps, but The sxr tunnel allows you to run new gen , unmodified impellers as they were designed to run, aswell as new school sxr i take grates and ride plates. Plus the tunnel comes blank. You can easily mount almost any pump you want caus its a blank canvas. Choose wisely tho caus after the first install, the ease of swapping is now gone and your back to typical swap issues. I really wanna run the one i have for sale, but selling due to not able to locate anyone local that will do the swap for less than almost tripple what i paid for the tunnel and shoe. Its a major project.
Also, not saying that limit is at say 120hp, but there will be a theoretical limit somewhere if that makes sence. If your gona do the swap simply for ease of impeller changes, you are parting with alot of money for no reason. A pump swap to new 750 and up style pump can be done in your garage for a DRASTICALLY cheaper price, and would be the correct thing to do vs tunnel swap.

And lastly, its not that the tunnel cant floww enough water, its the violent disturbance of the flow that increases with power/speed that eventually becomes enough to result in pump cavitation..

Re: difference between x2 and sxr pump tunnel

    how does tje disturbamce come?
i am planning to put a 148mm pump in it. reshaping the hull is not a problem. i want to put a front fill so choppy water is not a problem.
so if i have to reshape the pump a bit.. no problem. i think i also make the inserts stronger so i can put a deep intake grate on it for more water.

Check out my thread on a 148 pump in an X2
Really worked well with no cavitation behind an 1100

oke so the flow need,s to be reshaped

the 148mm pump with the 5cm piece welded between 650 pump part and 148 shoe part ?
have already did the cutting only have to find a massive piece to get it machined and welded

The spacer is a piece of standard aluminum tubing...
I made a fixture out of an old X2 pump cavity to line it all up
I did not reshape the tunnel and it worked great for me
