Re: WaveBlaster II 1200 Conversion Build

I'm planning to use the XL1200 water box but I will need to cut a large hole in the bulkhead to get it in. It wont fit through the opening for the battery box. I was thinking in would cut the hole the same size as the hole on a GP1200 and use the GP1200 acordian seal to cover the hole.

The extreem throttle waterbox looks smaller, were you able to fit it in through the battery box opening?

The Waveraider 1100 #1 waterbox has a smaller diameter. That is what we use on B1 Yamaha triples. Fits right in the B1 battery box.

That prop should work pretty good. I have a solas 12-18 in a B1 only pulling about 6500. Stock motor.

The extreeme throttle box does fit right in without any cutting.

Re: WaveBlaster II 1200 Conversion Build

I think I'll try a Raider 1100 waterbox. Looks like it small enough to fit in through the battery box opening.

I would also like to relocate the waterbox mounts from the right side of the hull to the left. Anyone know a good way to remove the factory green glue from the hull?

Re: WaveBlaster II 1200 Conversion Build

The Raider 1100 water box and Extreem Throttle rear exhaust showed up this week. The 1100 water box is the same diameter and just a little longer, the XL1200 box is in the photo for reference. The 1100 box fits in the hull with no problem. Just need to figure out how to remove the water box mounts without damaging them so I can reuse them on the left side.
The rear exhaust is nice but has some manufacturing marks on the ring that I tried to polish out but you can still see them.

Re: WaveBlaster II 1200 Conversion Build

I had the day off today started working on my conversion agian. I decided to add trim to it using Wave Raider components. All I have in so far is the cam. Im sure this has been posted multiple times before but I figured I would post how I did it anyway.
The trim system from a Raider 1100 pretty much bolts right in except for the cam plate but its as simple as trimming off a portion of the plate that interfers with part of the hood, bending the mounting tab at the end and drilling a few holes.
The hole locations are not critical but if you drill them too close to the cam wheel the bolts there is a curve on the underside of the hood that becomes a problem. I wouldnt recommend drilling the holes any closer to the cam wheel than I did. I used a 1/4" drill bit and 6mm bolts.

Re: WaveBlaster II 1200 Conversion Build

I also just recieved the conversion parts.
I'm using extruded 3"x3" 0.25" 6061-T6 square tube to fabricate the conversion plates, 0.25" shorter Raahs mounts and washers, and GP760 midshaft.
I will cut the tube end to end to make two c-channel plates, this way I can run the taller mounts vs. 3/8" shorter mounts and bar stock conversion plates.
With any luck I will have it mocked up this weekend.

Re: WaveBlaster II 1200 Conversion Build

I installed the rear exhast and Raider 1100 water box. I still need to figure out a way to secure the water box but I think i will wait until the engine is installed to make sure the alignment is correct then just use some expanding foam to make a cradle for it.
The back of the Blaster has a slight curve to it and the flange of the exhaust doesnt lay completely flat so I cut up one of the original exhaust tubes to make a gasket.
I also installed the GP1200 gas tank. I had to lengthen the straps about 1.25" on the left side and 2" on the right side. I think it turned out ok considering it was my first time using a sewing machine. I used a tie down strap for the material and some high strenght thread my wife had.

You should be able to rotate the exhaust outlet to fit flush and the tubing should be parallel to the hull. The exhaust outlet was designed for the blaster hull with the taper in mind.
