    Re: JS550 Newbee, won't start

Good starter, good battery, tried WOT, plugs are NOT wet. Dead crank-no sputter at all. Going to pull carb and intake tomorrow, see if there is anything screwed up there. I do appreciate everyone's input. Someday we will figure this thing out !!!!

BN carb? I had similar sounding problem after rebuilding the BN. A new SBN from watcon fixed that.

Is the engine grounded to ebox? Just asking.

Have you considered putting a 650 engine in it?
Parting out what you have might even cover costs.
If I knew then what I do now, I would not have rebuilt my 550pp engine.

If you rebuilt your carb and it ran before but now it doesn't, that's probably the issue then....

It is a BN carb, no it didn't run before carb rebuild- thought that would take fix it. Engine is grounded to ebox.

Seems strange that fuel down the carb did not work. What about the timing position?

This stand up jetski lark gets better.... apparently.

Have you located anyone local that can put a carb that works on to isolate the issue?

My BN was pulling fuel and pumping back to tank, something was blocked inside.
But the time I removed and reinstalled three time to check, I had assembled correctly and tried to blow any debris through. I was done. SBN time.. expect about $300 for carb, spacer, x4 manifold gasket, x2carb gasket, extra fuel and pulse line hose, and you need longer bolts to connect manifold with the spacer.

Flywheel woodruff key timing may be off.

No one local has offered a carb to try, wish they would. I will ck the timing on Monday, off to the Dunes to run our quads this wknd. Again, thanks for all the input, I truly appreciate it.

I was thinking the same. My old JS440 fired in the bench without a carb attached. Just used a spray bottle with premix down the inlet. Not ideal and obviously didn't run but got a pop and a bit of smoke. Sounds to me like timing or weak spark.

They are a pretty basic engine. Just need a gob full of gas and spark at the right time and something should happen.

    Re: JS550 Newbee, won't start

Upon further examination here's what I have discovered. Head gasket on wrong, different thickness intake gaskets, no shims in motor plate so coupler is not aligned or spaced correctly, impeller rubs. The whole motor is suspect therefore I am going to tear it down replace crank seals, fix all the above and see where I'm at at that point. I'll get bk to you when all is completed, and hopefully running. I know carb is still suspect.
